Job Summary

Wildcat Voices (voices.uky.edu) is an online corpus of audio recordings designed to showcase the healthy linguistic diversity inherent to UK. We seek to hire a student with a background in web programming or design. A qualified candidate for this position will need basic web programming skills (Javascript, PHP, HTML/CSS, and MySQL) to create the public-facing and researcher-facing interfaces for the project and will receive expert mentorship. The software needed for this stage includes a map-based browsing interface that will allow visitors to browse the tremendous diversity of regional and national backgrounds that make up UK and listen to their voices. Additionally, the developer/designer in this role will assist in the creation of a semi-automated audio browsing and annotation interface.
