SUMMARY

  • Process paperwork in a timely manner, prepares delivery logs and bills of landings for drivers, and performs various warehouse/office duties as assigned..
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- include the following, other duties to be assigned as needed:

  • Greet and assist Will Call customers, answer phones and direct to appropriate personnel, if feasible.
  • Receive paperwork from freight carriers and instruct driver of unloading procedures. 
  • Check current day in-town delivery box for orders to be routed for AM & PM deliveries.
  • Check in-town Buyout Purchase Orders (PO) for current day pick-ups. Make a copy of the PO, write "Pick up Today", on the copy you made, along with the date. Place on pick pick-up clipboard or add to in-town driver's route. Place original PO back in the file.
  • Create bills of Lading (B.O.L.'s) for in- town trucks. Pull Mill Test Reports (MTR's), as required. Creates C.O.D. manifest for in-town deliveries, for each driver, and sends copy to front office.
  • Periodically check printers and work orders basket for new orders. Sort and file Shipping Orders and Work Orders according to date, in-town, out-of-town, or will calls. Place IP's (Inventory Processing Jobs) in assigned basket. Review and update any open IP's, from the previous workday, with PWC (Processing Work Center) codes PUL (pull from stock) or STK (cut stock lengths). Will occasionally deliver work orders to warehouse, if needed. 
  • Highlight any necessary information on out-of-town shipping orders, before placing in routing box, such as COD, Special Instructions, Processing, etc.
  • Assist Plant Manager with upkeep of all Safety files and machine logbooks. Assist/ Schedule and track routine preventive maintenance, trucks, and forklifts.
  • Check No Stock folder, daily, for incoming material for in-town and out-of-town deliveries. Periodically check Will Call box old shipping orders, cross check shipping orders for invoicing. Discard shipping orders that have been involved.
  • Reports any irregularities to supervisor/plant manager for direction.
  • Follows Corporate and Division safety guidelines by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment including hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS- an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully and satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- One year certificate from college or technical school; or at least a high school diploma and one year related experience and/or training; or 1 yr. combined equivalent of education and experience. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications.

LANGUAGE SKILLS- Ability to speak and read in English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Must be able to write simple correspondence. Must be able effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, vendors, and other employees within the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations, with only occasional instruction.

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job, include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

EQUIPMENT SKILLS- Computer data entry, ten-key, photocopiers, and scanners.

WORK ENVIRONMENT- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally, exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
