Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 lbs. Able to work in hot, wet areas and wear personal protective clothing.

Shift

Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with rotational weekend work required.

Job Summary

Completes more complex animal caretaking duties & specializes in the animal health, experimental surgery and veterinary support activities of individual species. Provides research support and training activities as directed. Completes majority of activities independently at direction of Group Leader or their Supervisor. All actions are completed by strictly & consistently following applicable DLAR SOPs including safety procedures & guidelines. Reports any suspected or actual deviations to SOPs or non-routine situations immediately to Group Leader or their Supervisor. Arrives, leaves & takes breaks at work as scheduled. Strictly adheres to DLAR attendance policy.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

MS Windows, Word, Outlook

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience

AALAS certification at LATG + (CMAR or ASR1 or ASR2), or RVT or DVM highly preferred. BA/BS degree with a minimum of 24 months of relevant animal experience is preferred.
Driver’s license preferred.
