Qualified applicant must be a current undergraduate UK student with junior status or higher; have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher; have taken CHE 105, 107, 111, 113, 230, 231, and 232; made a B or better in these courses. Applicants with equivalent credit will be considered. Preference will be given to students with an A in these courses.

Lifting and/or carrying light-weight objects; standing for approximately 3 hours at a time.

Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry is seeking talented and highly motivated undergraduates to fill position(s) as Undergraduate Instructional Assistants Type 1 (UIA-I). They are expected to be familiar with the content of the course and complete their duties as assigned with efficiency and professionalism.

UIAs in this position will be expected to assist with grading student work, assist in grading exams, assist with in-class activities as determined by the course instructor, and to assist in organization of assignments given to students during the semester. Specific training on the use of the grading rubrics is provided by the instructor. The instructor spot-checks all grades, resolves any discrepancies or disputes, and determines all final grades. Other duties may be assigned within the scope of the position.

This position requires a full semester commitment of at least 10 hours per week for approximately four weeks during the semester.

Students may not exceed 20 hours per week during the academic year for all assignments across campus.
