POSITION PURPOSE

This position provides trademark and other IP support to a wide variety of business groups within the Company. The successful candidate must have the ability to provide broad support in the areas of trademark clearance, registration, and prosecution. The position will also involve providing frequent training to clients and providing advice to client groups on a wide range of other IP issues, as well as managing outside counsel as necessary.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Independently conducts a high volume of domestic and foreign trademark clearance searches and conveys the search results to business clients in a clear and concise manner
• Reviews and edits trademark search reports prepared by in-house trademark specialists and outside counsel
• Maintains trademark and copyright portfolios, including domestic and foreign filing, prosecution, and monitoring
• Provides daily advice to the business on trademark, copyright, and other IP matters
• Resolves pre-litigation IP disputes using negotiation skills, judgement, creativity, and legal expertise
• Enforces IP rights, including drafting cease-and-desist letters, filing takedown requests, and preparing UDRP complaints
• Drafts and negotiates various IP agreements, including trademark and copyright licenses, assignments, and consents

  • Area of specialization is Intellectual Property.

    ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Located in a comfortable indoor area
    • Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations
    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time
