Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Home Depot Pro Product Engineer has responsibility for ensuring consistency of technical and quality aspects of THD Pro s private brand product lines to include products within the builder s hardware, plumbing, electrical, lighting, safety, HVAC, and Jan-San product categories.
This position is based out of Jacksonville, FL.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 40% - Product Onboarding: Administrate the various aspects of program onboarding to include performing product landscape reviews, various levels of testing, ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, to provide products that meet our customers expectations.
  • 20% - Product Submittal Sheets: Administrate the creation of technical submittal documents for private brand products, suitable for public distribution. Documents shall include general product performance characteristics, component materials, code compliance and approvals, as well as appropriate CAD drawings, all in a consumer-friendly form.
  • 20% - Private Brand Support: Assist management with advanced product support. Assist the corporate private brand team with document proofing. Lead technical product training periodically with Private Brands team.
  • 10% - Complaint Resolution: Assist the Quality Engineer to review quality complaints and coordinate complaint resolutions through CAR processes to include performing investigations, defining solutions and follow-up via corrective action processes, etc.
  • 10% - Regulatory Compliance: Assist the Quality Engineer with the administration of regulatory requirements including compliance with applicable laws, codes, standards, etc. Assist with the administration of related compliance certifications, approvals and listings for private brand products
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to Quality Assurance Manager.
This position has no direct reports.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
ENVIRONMENT:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Conditions could produce mild discomfort on occasion.
TRAVEL:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 5 years
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Work experience must be in a technical capacity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in a mechanical engineering or industrial technology preferred.
  • Ideal candidates may have retail hardware store experience or a working knowledge of common household systems and products such as toilets, dishwashers, faucets, disposers, lighting, electrical, dryers, washers, etc.
  • Ideal candidates may have prior experience working with service providers.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes in areas such as plastics, metals, and textiles.
  • Ideal candidates may have demonstrated proficiency using MS Access.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable CAD application.
  • Must be an MS Office products power user for Word, Excel, Outlook, and be able to perform web-searches.
  • Candidates should possess superior problem solving skills and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate shall be a self-starter with an aptitude for coordinating multiple tasks and projects.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, sales and domestic and international vendors/colleagues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and be dedicated to completing tasks on time.
  • Should have familiarity with basic best practices regarding regulatory test standards and test methodologies, root-cause analysis and general manufacturing processes to include injection molding, die casting, stamping/forming, machining, etc.
  • Must be a team player, committed to achieving personal, departmental, and corporate goals and objectives. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Must have reliable transportation, as travel to satellite offices can be a daily need.
