| Job Summary | Full-Time Research Assistant Position in the Weafer Alcohol Research Laboratory at the University of Kentucky
We are seeking a full-time research assistant ($18/hour) in the Weafer Alcohol Research Laboratory (PI: Dr. Jessica Weafer ) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Kentucky. We are an advanced cognitive neuroscience research lab studying substance abuse, with a focus on sex differences and risk factors for women. We utilize functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), hormonal assays, and intravenous alcohol administration to study the neural, behavioral, and hormonal factors underlying risk for alcohol and drug abuse. We are looking to recruit a highly skilled, organized, responsible, motivated, and conscientious individual to manage NIAAA-funded research projects focused on sex differences in risk for alcohol use disorder. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, at least one year of research experience, and ability to work with a diverse population. The applicant must be professional with good oral and written communication skills, detail oriented, teamwork oriented, and dependable. Experience in a human research lab is preferred but not mandatory. Specific job duties include: Recruiting/screening research participants Running experimental sessions per individual study protocols Assist with IRB and NIH regulatory processes and reports Assist with literature reviews, preparing manuscripts for publication, grant submissions, and conference presentations Training and supervision of undergraduate research assistants Perform other professional duties and tasks as assigned
