Job Summary

The College of Medicine (COM) at the University of Kentucky is seeking a Director for Student Success, who will promote the progression, retention, and wellness of MD students. The successful candidate will oversee a structured academic advising system for medical students across all COM campuses, as well as provide targeted advising support to medical students. In addition, this position will help with the implementation of orientation, white coat ceremony, convocation, Match Day, senior awards ceremony, and graduation with the Office of Medical Education.

The Director of Student Success will develop procedures for the early detection of student problems and referral to relevant support services, in addition to working closely with students, course directors, curriculum & assessment staff, and academic advising staff across campuses to monitor student performance. The Director will also develop and/or implement individualized study plans based on interviews and documentation from other service providers.

The successful candidate will have experience developing academic interventions in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting, working knowledge of how to develop educational plans that are effective when students are taking on a challenging curriculum and may be impacted by anxiety, stress, and perfectionism, and familiarity with FERPA, confidentiality, and other laws governing communication in an educational setting.
