Position Description:


The Indirect Tax Senior is responsible for working with 3rd party providers to support all the preparation, filing, estimating, paying and reconciling of all non-income tax based returns/accounts for the US and Canada. The Indirect Tax Senior will also be responsible for working with 3rd party providers and within the SAP environment to support the real and personal property tax compliance process and make associated payments.  This role will also help maintain the tax software system, document compliance processes and provide support/training to customer service, supply chain and accounts payable departments. Additional responsibilities of the position will be to perform data analysis and be pro-active in identifying potential tax issues. Present, explain, and verify audit findings as well as make recommendations to reduce indirect tax liabilities and/or increase tax refund possibilities.  Provide multiple tax discipline expertise to brand/corporate initiatives analytical support and ad hoc projects for management and other departments within the company.  Also, to be able to assist on state and local examination matters when needed MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 80% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May serve as principal contact on one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May lead or participate in special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including ASC450 and FAS5, where applicable. May serve as liaison between SSC and subsidiary businesses in the US and internationally. 

  • 10% Participation on cross-functional teams as a subject-matter expert 

  • 10% Coaching and mentoring of associates in the department


  • Reports to Tax Manager or Senior Manager

  • No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).


  • Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Travel: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.




  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

    Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 years Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate technical tax skills appropriate for the years of experience in the one or more tax disciplines.

  • Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage and implement multiple complex projects, people management, and communications to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven analytical and problem resolution skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CMI preferred

  • Experience with SAP and Taxware/Sovos, preferred

  • Excellent computer skills with extensive knowledge of Excel

  • 3-5 years Experience Preferred

  • Experience in tax compliance, audit, research, and accounting.
