Sr. Payroll Representative

**Description**

**Position Summary:**













The Senior Payroll Representative is primarily responsible for
assisting the Payroll Management Team with meeting overall objectives by
monitoring the accuracy and efficiency of the payroll process and by
demonstrating and encouraging the use of payroll best practices. The Senior is
involved with initiating and monitoring the processes which result in
successful weekly payrolls for 47,000+ Staples associates. This individual also
provides strong leadership and guidance to the Payroll Customer Service, Tax
and Garnishment team.













This individual would also be cross-trained in various
tasks/responsibilities within the payroll department to ensure that adequate
backup resources exist to cover all functions.













**Primary Responsibilities:**









+ Ensure delivery of business results by meeting or exceeding allservice level agreements

+ Assign Service Now tickets to Customer Service and Garnishmentsteams

+ Execute daily off-cycle close activities

+ Execute processes resulting in the successful completion ofweekly on-cycle payroll processing

+ Review and load file feeds from various business partners to thePeopleSoft system for timely on and off-cycle processing

+ Serve as the primary resource for the PosPay and ACHtransmission process to the bank

+ Manage the stop pay/reissue process using the current onlinebanking system

+ Audit and balance on-cycle payroll input to ensure accuracy andcompleteness

+ Conduct quality control audits for all off-cycle/on-cycle payments

+ Accurately input various reporting and special payment files toinclude relocation, expatriate, and SERP processing

+ Calculate overpayment amounts per the request of businesspartners in accordance with federal and state laws

+ Assist the Accounting Department in reconciling the Netpay andMoney Network accounts

+ Initiate check print file creation

+ Maintain payroll back-up to ensure compliance with auditrequirements

+ Research and resolve escalated payroll related inquiries

+ Assist with internal and external audit activities

+ Assist with support projects as assigned by departmentmanagement

+ Archive payroll data

+ Audit SOX controls

+ Act as backup for Payroll Supervisor

+ Review new payroll laws and notify payroll management of changes

+ Communicate with HR Managers

+ **_Relationship Management_**



+ Assist with development and execution of training programs

+ Assist Payroll Representatives by teaching and encouraging Payrollbest practices

+ Appropriately assist the Payroll Leadership in managing the interactionbetween Payroll and HR Services to promote a positive work environment and anefficient and effective resolution to employee payroll requests

+ Promote strong collaborative relationships within the PayrollOperations team and all other internal and external business partners

+ Understanding of the payroll process

+ Ability to critically review and analyze payroll processes

+ Ability to identify and address concerns before they becomeproblems, and to propose solutions to the concerns

+ Superior ability to recognize the appropriate style, level ofdetail, and message for various audiences

+ Ability to manage the transition of information from PayrollLeadership to Payroll Representative

+ Ability to motivate and train Payroll Representatives

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Ability to cooperate with team members and with PayrollLeadership

+ Ability to be flexiblewith position duties and scope of work























**Basic:**









+ High school diploma or GED

+ 2 to 4 years of related payroll processing work experience

+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volumeenvironment













**Preferred:**









+ Associates or Bachelor's Degree

+ CPP
