The Sr. Manager of Learning Strategy – Selling (LSM) must be a learner advocate, thought leader, collaborator, and problem-solver with a relentless passion and focus to deliver excellent customer service and creative solutions. The LSM will be responsible for establishing short- and long-term learning strategies to support our consultative and outside sales associates. The LSM must convert those short- and long-term learning strategies into operational programs with measurable outcomes. To do this, the LSM must take a learner-centric approach to define and routinely validate learning needs for these consultative and outside sales associates. The LSM will partner across multiple businesses and multiple levels, both inside and outside the Learning & Development team, with a focus on developing unique solutions that will ultimately support the growth of the consultative and outsides sales business at The Home Depot.

In order to be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate a track record of strength and examples of successes in the following areas:

  • Experience defining and implementing a Selling Skills learning strategy at scale
  • Influencing and Leading a sales training organization, to include defining and implementing the sales training strategy
  • Ability to develop a big-picture vision, then convert that vision into an ongoing operational program with defined and predictable outcomes through effective resource planning and prioritization
  • Deep project management experience supporting multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills across multiple lines of business
  • User/Learner-centric approach to solving challenging and/or ambiguous problems in start-up situations
  • Courageous and confident leadership through influence, particularly leading cross-functional teams
  • Business acumen across multiple lines of business, to include connecting business outcomes back to the impact of the learning strateg 
    Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
    - Determine learner capabilities and learner needs by reviewing job requirements, experiencing the learner's environment, connecting with learners and leaders closest to the role, and evaluating key metrics and connect with business partners to stay current on the needs of the business.

    - Develop strategy for assigned content areas (content area plan) and recommend solutions to business partners that address learner needs to increase associate competence and confidence. Collaborate with other LSMs to ensure assigned content areas are represented. Determine and maintain effectiveness of content areas.

    - Work with learning Design & Development, Technology, and/or Delivery teams to determine the most effective learning solutions for assigned content areas and communicate solutions to business partners

    - Create learning plans for assigned job roles based on learner needs. For assigned job roles, validate content area recommendations from other LSMs. Work closely with learning Execution, Technology, and Delivery team members to ensure execution of learning plans. Determine and maintain effectiveness of learning plans.

    - Collaborate with business partners, keeping them informed, influencing the right decisions for learners, and effectively addressing difficult issues. Demonstrate the courage to say what needs to be said, while maintaining strong relationships. Gain buy-in from stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization

    Nature and Scope:
    This position reports to the Director Learning.

    This position has 0-4 direct reports.

    Environmental Job Requirements:
    1. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
