JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Product Manager, the Software Engineer II (SEII) will work with Reliance business users and product Business Systems Analysts throughout the organization as well as champion ongoing releases of new and improved capabilities, upgrades, and audits in the support of our primary applications. The SE II adheres to and supports the RTS project and software development lifecycle, methodologies. In addition, the SE II raises the technical competency of the team by educating fellow team members on both new and existing technology, and sets future technical direction by identifying, evaluating, and implementing appropriate technology and tools. The SE II monitors all areas of responsibility for software and/or server end of life support, security adherence, and logs for potential functionality and performance alerts as well as incident trouble-shooting with unit Business Systems Analysts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Technical Design - Able to identify, analyze, specify, design, and translate functional design to technical design. Create and document technical designs for medium to high complexity solutions that may include integration with external systems.

  • Design systems that span multiple technologies/platforms

Application Development - Able to write, test, debug, and maintain applications for end-user adoption, productivity improvement and efficiency. 

  • Research, analyze, and produce high quality source code for medium to high complexity solutions
  • Create, modify, and enhance medium to high complexity programs
  • Assist with technical design
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Participate in peer code reviews
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify and solve software defects
  • Anticipate risks and implement contingency plans to resolve issues impacting applications
  • Design operational support systems like monitoring, reporting, fail over, error handling etc.
  • Proactively enhances systems for stability, efficiency, scalability and robustness   
  • Perform file level verification tasks via UNIX Shell scripts and command-line utilities.
  • Provide support to all ETL applications and perform root cause analysis on all processes to resolve all production issues. 

Unit Testing and Validation - Ensures developed code meets the technical and functional specifications.

  • Develop and document effective unit test cases to test solution and validate results are as expected
  • Modify code if unit test fails
  • Document all test procedures for systems and processes and coordinate with business analysts and users to resolve all requirement issues and maintain quality
  • Ensure the application operates according to functional and technical specifications
  • Troubleshooting and resolve software bugs, data, and system configuration issues
  • Develops reusable unit test case suite

SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Assist personnel in other RTS departments to resolve technical and/or application issues
  • Other duties as requested
  • Participate in gap-fit analysis
  • Occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule - evening/weekend hours in order to meet project deadlines or to access the computer system to support 2nd/3rd shift users

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management of information science, or related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development using a wide variety of languages (.NET, C#, ASP .NET, ADO .NET, MVC, HTML, XML/Web Services, JQuery, JavaScript) required
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Strong problem solving skills required  
  • Intermediate/strong Windows Server configuration experience required
  • Experience supporting financial applications (reporting, fixed assets, lease management, risk management) preferred
  • Experience with OKTA integration and SAML protocol preferred
  • Experience with PHP/WordPress in a Linux environment preferred
  • Experience with an Enterprise Content Management platform desirable
  • Experience in plugin development, JavaScript development and customizations in a CRM platform desirable
