The Sr. User Experience Architect at Home Depot understands complex systems of information and is versed in the science of order and will bring a strong process-oriented design methodology. The Sr. User Experience will be responsible for understanding and moving strategic UX activities across end-end experiences within our B2B/Rewards community and operates autonomously in or across teams. The Sr. User Experience would do this through research, competitive analysis, design sprints, lean UX, rapid prototyping, and partner with research for formal in person testing and interviews with customers.

An ideal candidate will have a solid portfolio of artifacts showing their understanding of the UX process. Design is a process of research, learning, testing and iteration and can show how that leads to a final deliverable. The Sr. UX Architect will need be highly collaborative; lean on the team and peers for constructive feedback and can share their feedback as well. The candidate will bring Design Thinking mentality and passion for doing the right thing for the user to solve their problems and ease their friction points.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

  • 50% Design of information architecture: creating site maps, annotated wireframes, component patterns, user process flows, interactive prototypes, define the categorization, organization and navigational conventions used throughout the experience and partner with content strategy for the science behind the storytelling.
  • 25% Conducting competitive analysis, usability testing -- analyzing user feedback and gaining insights to enhance the user experience
  • 10% Consulting with stakeholders to understand their goals and explaining research results, leading group design exercises
  • 10% Consulting with development teams to understand feasibility of interactions
  • 5% Developing personas and usage scenarios

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous project leadership experience in a retail environment or advertising agency 
  • Demonstrated user experience design skills with expert knowledge of current design programs 
  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript 
  • Understanding of browser display differences on different platforms 
  • Demonstrated experience in designing creative and web pages for e-commerce websites

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: 

  • Mastery of all the latest design tools, and versions of applicable software programs: Mac OSX, Sketch (or similar, Axure and Invision). Knowledge of usertesting.com tool.
  • Ability to concept, present and execute. Act as an exemplary representative of the online experience team in its dealings with internal clients and external vendors with the ability to interact comfortably with executives at highest levels of the Company. 
  • Provide strong client management skills with flawless follow-up. 
  • Provide creative solutions consistent with industry trends, demonstrating ability to problem-solve, organize and project manage. 
  • Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand designs and visual elements. 
  • Proven ability working in fast-paced environment with shifting priorities while managing tactical deliverables and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strong rapport with teammates, and stakeholders from multiple business groups.

Nature & Scope:

  • Position reports to the Sr. UX Manager or UX Manager
  • No direct reports.


  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 years (3-5 preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Standing desk or sitting desk
