Primary role involves achieving outcomes through leading others*, either directly or through a matrixed reporting relationship, including having accountability for the output and performance of the team(s), exercising significant influence on how the team members focus their time, conducting frequent communication to discuss expectations and provide feedback and coaching, having a high-degree of participation in formal management responsibilities related to hiring, firing, performance reviews and compensation decisions. Requires management skill, broad technical expertise and company/industry knowledge. Utilizes business acumen and knowledge of the function/business unit structure to influence others, directly and indirectly, to achieve results. * This may include managing contracted work (3rd party services/contractors).


Leads a team that is responsible for creating compelling User Experience research, both qualitative and quantitative, in support of organization's applications and services across platforms including web and mobile. Working across stakeholder groups and with internal and external customers, the role must understand and analyze user needs and translate those needs into usable, valuable and desirable user interface designs and flows.


Has primary accountability for the performance and results of a team within own discipline. Manages managers: May also manage professional associates and/or supervisors. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Interprets policies, procedures and business plan; and influences change in these areas. Provides technical guidance to associates, colleagues and/or clients. Manages professional associates and/or supervisors: As a bench role for Directorship, is responsible for contributing to the development of departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Participates in establishing strategic priorities. Interprets policies, procedures and business plan; and influences change in these areas. Provides technical guidance to associates, colleagues and/or clients.


Typically requires BA/BS -- or equivalent in education and experience.

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years management experience.


Requires in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own discipline and working knowledge of other disciplines (question the status quo).


Applies understanding of the industry and how training contributes to the achievement of objectives.


Manages a generally homogeneous team; adapts plans and priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges. Proactively manages resources (budget/human/time) to meet department goals.


Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems. May participate in solving problems across a matrix.


Impacts the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness objectives. Influencing resource requirements and policies to improve work effectiveness.


Guides, influences and persuades others either internally across matrix areas or externally with customers or agencies.
