Position Description:
The Sr. Manager Data Science will be expected to engage with our business partners to identify data-driven opportunities and map business problems to data science solutions; develop a data science strategy that spans and informs all areas of the business from product innovation to customer success; and guide and inspire the teams in data science best practices, and evangelize strategic use of data throughout the business. This person will directly manage several data scientists.
90% - Serves as the data science leader within BlackLocus for one or more functions; partners with relevant business stakeholders to identify BL solutions for key business problems; works with stakeholders to define and distill requirements for analytic solutions; provides leadership to a team of data scientists and work with internal cross-functional leaders.
10% - Seeks further knowledge on key developments within data science, technical skill sets, and additional data sources within Home Depot; stays current with advancements in optimization, statistical modeling, programming techniques and advocates for them where appropriate
This position reports to the Head of Data Science.
This position has 5 direct reports.
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a master's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 4 years
Physical Requirements:
Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree preferred
Experience leading project workstreams with a record of accomplishment
Experience managing teams of data scientists on one or more projects and providing mentorship to grow their careers
Experience working with stakeholders to scope problems and identify appropriate solutions that work within time, budget, and capability constraints
Ability to communicate technical results effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, including peers, direct stakeholders, and leadership-level stakeholders
Hands on experience with developing and evaluating analytical models in python, R or other scientific programming languages using real business data for minimum 3+ years
Comfortable with measuring impact of models and explaining and presenting to the business stakeholders
A strong focus on Machine Learning and/or Optimization
Experienced in python, R and SQL for analyzing and modeling the large volume of the data.
Proven record of successfully building multiple analytical models from ground-up with no or very little guidance
Experience visualizing complicated data science results in Tableau or similar Willing to travel as needed (<10% of the year)
