Job Description

The Sr. Manager, of Facilities and Maintenance will lead a team of internal and contracted subject-matter experts that are responsible for the end-to-end management of laboratory and manufacturing equipment maintenance at our West Chester, PA site.   

 

The selected individual will be a key member of the R&D organization with responsibilities in CMC Biologics extending to Specialty Specialty Bioanalytics, and the Device Group.  The position will require significant experience leading and managing facility/equipment maintenance teams.  

 

They will take primary responsibility for managing the overall maintenance program and will be responsible to ensure that the program exceeds industry standards and regulatory expectations. In this role you will have frequent interface with Quality, Validation, and the Automation & Technology groups.   The individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of a reliability program for the site.  You will maintain and enhance the maintenance program that supports both GxP and Non-GxP areas as well provide technical oversight, training and leadership to the maintenance department.

 

Knowledge and utilization of RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) methodology will be needed to ensure that the best maintenance practices are applied to each critical asset based on its operating environment. You will be responsible for developing and revising department SOPs and follow applicable SOP/Work instructions as well as comply with cGxP regulations for lab and manufacturing operations.

 

Other Duties:

  • Continuously refine long term maintenance and reliability strategies and improvement plans
  • Identify new product and technology enhancements that could provide reliability improvement and cost reduction
  • Support routine and non-routine maintenance of laboratory and manufacturing equipment through internal or contracted resources
  • Maintain a network of internal and external SMEs to support the maintenance and reliability programs
  • Maintain regulatory compliance thru self-audits, validation, change management, risk assessments, and deviation support
  • Support internal and external audits and assessments as related to quality impacting systems and the facility as a whole
  • Support regulatory inspections evaluating the GxP PM/Maintenance program
  • Maintain a  successful partnerships with Facilities, Quality, Validation and Automation groups
  • Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide comprehensive maintenance strategies, providing practical and economical solutions
Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical field of study
  • 10+ years of experience working on facility and equipment programs in a GMP environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with interfacing with Facilities, Quality, Validation and Information Technology groups to develop requirements, establish programs and manage day-to-day operation
  • Understanding of utility systems, process equipment, and analytical equipment
  • Experience establishing overarching, comprehensive and compliant life-cycle maintenance programs 
  • Experience with establishing function-appropriate maintenance and programs for laboratories (development and Quality Control)
  • Experience with process and equipment troubleshooting, investigation and resolution of deviations, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience interacting with auditors of internal, external and regulatory audits for pharmaceutical companies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
