Job Description

Teva is searching for a Senior Chemist, QC to join our team in Irvine!


The Senior Chemist role requires proficiency with authoring and executing analytical method validation protocols and reports, compendia verifications and method transfers. This role provides technical support for complex investigations and junior staff, analytical testing of raw or finished dosage pharmaceutical products, trouble-shooting, minor maintenance of analytical instruments and laboratory analysis.


You will:

  • Author and/or execute protocols and reports for method validation, method transfer and USP verifications
  • Provide support for complex technical investigations and projects
  • Complete Investigation and Deviations (CAPA effectiveness) in TrackWise
  • Mentor more junior team members
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams, internal and external to Irvine
  • Participate in troubleshooting of analytical test methods
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies, procedures, and state, Federal and local laws
  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Chemistry or Microbiology, strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant progressive experience in a Quality Control / Quality Assurance environment required
  • Experience with cGMP, cGLP, method verification and method transfer and other applicable industry regulatory requirements as they relate to the production of pharmaceutical products and associated quality systems required
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LabWare LIMS ChemStation and/or Empower) strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of method validation requirements and strong working knowledge of analytical instrumentation required
  • Experience mentoring team members preferred
  • Solid understanding of the principles of analytical chemistry as it applies to HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis and other general analytical techniques, and Strong understanding of compendia required
  • Computer proficiency with comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office products, Learning Management Systems (LMS), ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and manufacturing/quality systems such as LIMS, and TrackWise required
  • Ability to effectively document processes and protocols, explaining scientific and/or technical ideas in writing (technical writing skills) required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interact positively and collaborate with co-workers, management and other internal stakeholders
  • Self-direction with ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Detail oriented with ability to identify errors and/or inconsistencies while performing tasks
