Job Summary

A Scientist I position is available in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry, University of Kentucky (http://www.mc.uky.edu/biochemistry/). The successful candidate will develop independent projects to examine function of bacterial cell wall polysaccharides in medically important streptococci.

Interested applicants should have a degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related discipline and published at least three research articles in international peer-reviewed journals as the first author.

The successful candidate should have practical knowledge of biochemical and molecular biological techniques (e.g. cloning, protein expression and purification, fluorescent microscopy, analysis of protein-protein interactions, etc.). Demonstrated expertise in one of the following areas would be advantageous: analysis of bacterial polysaccharides and cell wall; bacterial genetics; SEM/TEM microscopy; biophysical analysis of protein-protein/polysaccharide interaction.
