Physical Requirements | Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time. Risk of back injury from moving, lifting or positioning , equipment, or materials. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job. Working at heights above 4 feet. Exposure to extreme weather conditions. |
Shift | Monday – Friday; 7:30 am – 4:00 pm.; and may be required to work extended hours during peak season. |
Job Summary | The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment department of Horticulture seeks a Research Farm Technician. The Research Farm Technician functions as a member of the Horticulture staff at the Horticulture Research Farm in order to fulfill the mission of the department. Primary focus is on supporting applied extension vegetable research. Responsibilities include the design, development, and maintenance of vegetable experiments in high tunnels, greenhouses, and field plots; collection of data and research samples for statistical analysis; and maintenance and operation of specialized vegetable and construction equipment. This position also supervises student employees and collaborates with Horticulture faculty and staff. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Experience in farming, irrigation, and or construction. Ability to use Microsoft Windows, Micro Office Suite (word, excel, etc.). |

Preferred Education/Experience | Driver’s License and five years of driving experience preferred. |
