Job Summary | The Ebbert lab seeks a candidate that is excited about advancing neurodegenerative disease research, including Alzheimer’s disease, FTD and ALS. The candidate will apply cutting-edge long-range (e.g., Bionano Genomics) and long-read sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore Technologies) to better understand disease etiology and how to improve patient care. The candidate will be directly responsible for extracting and preparing DNA/RNA from human and animal tissue (e.g. brain/blood) and performing the experiment. The candidate will also be responsible for strict quality control throughout the entire process. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the candidate will be responsible for managing the lab, including ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, cleanliness, etc. Above all, the candidate must help maintain physical SAFETY, and must be respectful of all cultures and contribute to a positive, inclusive lab culture, where all lab members feel welcome and safe. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Comfortable using or learning to use PCs and Macs, MS Office, and other relatively user-friendly softwares. |
