Job Summary

This job requires an employee who can assist the Principal Investigators (PIs) as needed to complete research tasks. The Research Assistant should be able to review technical reports or literature and summarize the findings related to specific tasks with a project. Participate on committee meetings and prepare a summary for distribution to team members. Become proficient with the Kentucky CVIEW (system used to access vehicle information related to commercial vehicles) and KATS truck screening system applications, training to provided. Perform analysis of license plate and USDOT reader data. Review and compare data within the KATS and CVIEW systems and identify issues. Communicate with PIs, other research assistants, and clients on projects via email and phone. Provide review and feedback on project materials. Develop a report outline with input from the PI and assist with writing technical reports. Using the accounting system to check budgets and provide summary information to the PIs. Conduct surveys either over the phone or through email. Assist with development of survey questions based on project objective. Assist with the development of project work plans. Assist with the development of grant applications. Assist with the development of project budgets and Collection and analysis of data. Training and working with student employees.

Preferred Education/Experience

Education or Work Experience in an area where similar skill sets are required – 2 years.

Desired (but not required) skills:
Advanced usage/knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Proficient with MS Teams
Familiarity with Qualtrics or other electronic survey tool
Proficiency using one of the following:
statistical software package (e.g. SPSS, Stata, R)
GIS software package (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS)
computer programming language (e.g. SQL, C/C++, Python) and related application development software
