Overview
KTVI/KPLR News seeks a can-do MMJ - News/Weekend Sports who understands sports is news. Ideal candidate thrives on not just sports but all news and must be willing to cover all news. We want someone who understands coverage and our need for flexibility.
We want a team player who can ad-lib, go LIVE, and connect with viewers through all our social media platforms. Candidate must be skilled at shooting their own stories, a quick editor, and strong writer.
This is an outstanding news operation and we want leaders and doers who can think for themselves while executing our brand and drive our market position of ‘live, local and late breaking.’
Responsibilities
MMJ - News/Weekend Sports will execute assignments in a clear and concise manner following the direction of the News Managers, Assignment Desk, and Producers.
MMJ - News/Weekend Sports must develop contacts, research, and report stories in a fair and balanced fashion that avoids litigation.
MMJ - News/Weekend Sports will produce and edit reports for all platforms while engaging and interacting with viewers on social media. (Twitter/Facebook, Instagram)
MMJ - News/Weekend Sports must have outstanding on-air presence, storytelling and communication skills with our team.
MMJ - News/Weekend Sports will be expected to make public appearances and promote KTVI/KPLR when asked and must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holiday.

Qualifications
1+ years of reporting/multimedia experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
Strong writing, photography, spelling skills, solid news judgment, accuracy and knowledge of current events in St. Louis.
Highly professional with a strong work ethic, ability to perform in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions, flexibility for when news breaks.
Must have a valid driver's license (or be able to get one).
