Job Summary

As Kentucky’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, the UK Markey Cancer Center is equipped to deliver leading-edge cancer care and engage in groundbreaking research. The Markey Cancer Center is committed to reducing cancer mortality and the burden of disease through comprehensive programs and collaborations in cancer research, treatment and education.

Through the Markey Cancer Center Research Network (MCCRN), we bring access to research studies into the communities we serve. The Markey Cancer Center Research Network’s Quality Assurance Education Specialist performs activities to support central operations of a network conducting multicenter studies in the treatment, prevention and early detection of cancers.

The Quality Assurance Education Specialist will assist or lead the planning, development and implementation of clinical research training programs and continuing education programs; ensure quality of services delivered to participating sites; conduct needs assessments to develop and implement educational plans. Audience for training and education will include clinical research nurses and coordinators, regulatory coordinators, physicians, pharmacy, other personnel involved in clinical research.

Duties require application of knowledge of CFR, ICH, FDA Guidance Documents, NIH, NCI, OMB and SOPs as well as professional techniques of project management professionals.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Microsoft Professional programs, including Access, Excel, Project, Planner, OneNote, Visio, research databases, HIPAA, HSP, web, strong knowledge of CFR & GCP, Federal guidance documents, NCI & CTMB guidelines, knowledge of oncology clinical trials.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree with more than seven years experience preferred.
Experience in oncology research or training and education in small or large group and web settings is strongly preferred.
