Job Description

The position will develop, validate and perform microbiological and environmental monitoring testing activities within a GxP-compliant laboratory to support pre-clinical studies, clinical development for quality control operations.  The incumbent should possess a practical understanding of bio-pharmaceutical drug development and GxP requirements.  This laboratory position requires demonstrated application of standard principles, theories and techniques to solve specific problems in a productive manner.  Assessing, improving and maintaining local, regional and global regulatory compliance (ICH, GMP, EPA, OSHA, DEA, etc) are integral responsibilities of this position.  The position requires independence, technical expertise, ability to perform complex work as well as routine work following written procedures and ability to work on multiple projects.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs environmental monitoring of plant utilities and production clean zones using particle counters, contact plates and microbial air samplers.
  • Performs routine and non-routine microbiological testing such as water bioburden and media growth promotion, gram staining and microbial identifications.
  • May identifies bacteria and susceptibilities, molds, yeast, and other related organisms.
  • Perform release and stability testing, record data per GxP requirements and may provide peer review of documentation.
  • May perform enumeration and characterization of microorganisms recovered from samples.
  • Participate in aseptic processing in a clean room environment.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ICH, GMP and safety regulations.  Notify management of unexpected results, procedural deviations and equipment problems.
  • May participate in the writing and review of standard operating procedures, work instructions, protocols and reports.
  • May assist management and BOSS team with instrument and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and compliance.
  • Participate in and may assist in writing laboratory investigations.
  • Respond to technical questions and problems.
  • Maintain a collaborative working relationship with external manufacturing/testing partners and other Teva departments during transfer and routine analysis.
  • Actively contribute to the maintenance of a clean, safe working environment in the laboratories.
  • Other projects and duties as required/assigned.


  • Completed Bachelor of Science in Biology or Microbiology
  • 2 years+ experience within the pharmaceutical industry is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work in a laboratory performing microbiological and environmental monitoring testing
