Laboratory experience in one or more: ELISA assays, flow cytometry methods, biospecimen collection and archiving, cell culture, animal models (mice, other), cardiovascular biology, neurology, pharmacology/drug studies, imaging.

Physical Requirements

Standing or sitting up to 8 hours/day, lifting <30 lbs, may view computer up to 8 hours/day. Comfortable with human and/or animal sample exposure.


Flexible, generally Monday-Friday 8-5, some weekend, evening or night duties depending on research projects.

Job Summary

This position is part of an effort to support and expand translational research activities in the Department of Pediatrics. The trainee will primarily be lab-based methods support, as well as individual project development in support of faculty. The successful candidate will have multiple skills in preclinical and/or clinical research methodologies and a personal interest in collaboration and working closely with physicians and other scientists to conduct multi-disciplinary projects concerning child health. Research interests in perinatal medicine, therapeutics, or pediatric disease states (including obesity related morbidities) are encouraged.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Excellent laboratory skills with hands on expertise in one or more of the following: ELISA assays, flow cytometry methods, biospecimen collection and archiving, cell culture, animal models (mice, other), vascular biology, neurology, drug studies, imaging.

Must have excellent communication skills, an interest in clinical and translational research development and project management, medical writing (including grant proposals and publications).

Should have background in pharmacology, pathophysiology or similar discipline
