Open research projects include: 1) analysis of leukemia stem cells and their niche, 2) defining mechanisms of cancer initiation and evolution, and 3) the role of the tumor microenvironment in cancer progression. These projects will utilize cutting-edge in vivo imaging in zebrafish cancer models, single cell sequencing technologies, and biological and biochemical techniques (human cell culture, PCR, western blot, etc) and are focused on identifying new aspects of cancer biology that can ultimately be therapeutically targeted.
