Job Summary | The Bauer Laboratory at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is seeking qualified candidates for one NIH-funded postdoctoral position in blood-brain barrier/neurovascular research (requisition # DU06259). This project is focused on understanding blood-brain barrier dysfunction in epilepsy (in vivo rodent epilepsy models, human brain tissue). Methods will include stereotactic surgery, video-EEG, in vivo imaging, biochemical, molecular, and functional assays. Ideal candidates are recent or soon-to-be PhD, PharmD/PhD, MD/PhD, or DVM graduates with a background in neuroscience, blood-brain barrier/neurovascular research, epilepsy, transport biology, and/or cell signaling. Candidates are expected to be highly motivated, detail-oriented, have outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, and must have an excellent work ethic. The Bauer Laboratory is part of the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging (www.uky.edu/coa/) and the Brain and Epilepsy Alliance for Metabolism research (https://med.uky.edu/alliance/beam). The Bauer laboratory fosters interdisciplinary research and is dedicated to exploring blood-brain barrier and neurovascular function with the goal to improve treatment of brain disorders.
