Required License/Registration/Certification | RDCS (AE) / RCCS registered or registry eligible at time of hire. Plus RDCS (PE) / RCCS certification within 18 months of hire. |
Physical Requirements | Being able to travel long distances across the enterprise, regularly lifting, pushing and/or pulling objects over 50 lbs, regular exposure to repetitive motion, occasional exposure to radiation, hazardous chemicals, bloodborne/airborne pathogens, cuts and punctures. Intermittent job related travel. |
Shift | Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 (40 hours/week). 24 hour shared call rotations including evenings, weekends and holidays. |
Job Summary | Kentucky Children’s Hospital has an immediate, full-time opening for an experienced pediatric cardiac sonographer. Fetal echocardiography experience is preferred. Kentucky Children’s Hospital at the University of Kentucky is a 200+ bed facility with a new dedicated 4 bed pediatric cardiac ICU, 12 bed pediatric ICU, 12 bed progressive care unit, and 90+ bed neonatal ICU. Our pediatric echocardiography lab is accredited by the IAC in pediatric transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography. The University of Kentucky has recently partnered with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in a Joint Pediatric Heart Care Program designed to be “one program, two sites” with plans for significant growth and collaboration. In addition to providing exceptional heart care (including open heart surgery), collaborative research and educational opportunities are also anticipated. The collaboration is one of the top pediatric heart programs in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2020 – 2021 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. The qualified candidate will join our energized, dynamic team of 12 pediatric cardiologists, 2 pediatric CT surgeons, and 8 sonographers performing high-quality, diagnostic echocardiograms in a wide variety of settings to include inpatient, outpatient and off-site clinics. 24-hour call rotations and some travel will be required.
