Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves occasional job-related travel (less than 10% of time); risk of injury from use of equipment on the job; and some exposure to blood-borne/airborne pathogens.

Shift

Primarily days, Monday through Friday; as an exempt-level position, however, additional hours may be needed in order to meet job and departmental business needs.

Job Summary

The Payer Administration Director Assistant will work with pharmacy leadership, the EVPHA Revenue Management Contract team, and the Office of Legal Counsel in order to serve as the primary point of contact for third-party payors in receiving, triaging, reviewing, negotiating, and responding to all retail, specialty, mail order, and infusion pharmacy contracts.

This individual will also cultivate third-party relationships with pharmacy benefit managers, medical plans, and select drug manufacturers with the goal of supporting UKHC Pharmacy Services while maximizing value. The Payer Administration Director Assistant formally reports to the Enterprise Director of Pharmacy Services, with a dotted line to the Chief of Commercial & Governmental Payor Administration.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate for this position will have exceptional negotiation, strategic thinking, attention to detail, relationship-building, and communication skills. The ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all organizational levels as well as external partners is essential, as well as the ability to seamlessly communicate, manage and preserve sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. Of additional importance to the success of the individual in this position is a strong background in, and familiarity with, the pharmacy industry, specifically with technical terms and processes.

Preferred Education/Experience

JD and at least 3 full years of paid employment experience in healthcare, pharmacy, and/or contract management.
