Required Related Experience

1. M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree
2. Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Transplantation.
3. Demonstrated ability in direct patient care.
4. Demonstrated ability in clinical setting
5. Ability to relate with internal and external constituencies of the Medical Center involved in related disciplines.
6. Successful completion of a transplant training program at an ACGME accredited, or a foreign accredited equivalent, institution.
7. Maintenance of medical licensure and DEA within state of Kentucky.
8. Must be qualified for inclusion in the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations Credentials Information Network (ACIN)

Required License/Registration/Certification

Board Eligible/Board Certified by the American Board of Transplantation

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the person in this OPS position is to enhance the delivery of patient care of the Transplant Program at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The individual in this position will participate in organ procurement. This is an as needed position, and the OPS is expected to be immediately available to respond to all calls for retrieval of organs from outside institutions. Travel may be by fixed wing aircraft helicopter, airplane, ground ambulance or other vehicles approved by the organ procurement organization and is a required component of this position. The OPS may also function as first assistant to the recipient transplant surgeon physician, when necessary.
