Description:

Central Plains Steel Co., a division of Reliance Steel & Aluminum, is seeking a Territory Manager in Outside Sales, in Wichita, KS

In this role, the Territory Manager will be primarily responsible for developing, growing, and servicing new business, at both new and existing accounts. The current mix of business at this Division is made up of a blend of about 70% Contractual/Repeat business, and 30% Spot/Transaction. Products sold primarily include Carbon and Stainless Steel, in addition to some Non-Ferrous. Products sold are made up of processed raw materials, and 1st stage and 2nd stage finished blanks/parts/components. Processing capabilities include Leveling/Cut-to-Length, Laser Burning, Plasma Burning, Press Brake Forming, Sawing, and Shearing.
There’s a strong emphasis on selling Value-added products and services, and maximizing Profit vs. Volume. The Territory Manager will be supported in their growth efforts via outstanding Customer Service, Operational, and Technical Support groups, who are responsible for carrying out and executing orders.

The ideal candidate characteristics:

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Outside Sales role, preferably in the Metals industry or in similar/related industries.
- Enjoys developing new business, developing long term customer relationships, and selling through utilizing a consultative/problem-solving approach.
- Is a self-starter who is motivated and has a competitive spirit to win
- Has the ability to identify and interpret the needs of our customers and coordinate them with the needs and capabilities of our Division.
- Ability to negotiate agreements, formulate sales/marketing goals/strategies for the Territory, entertain customers, and provide ongoing important and relevant customer and market information to Division personnel

Requirements:
4 year college degree from an accredited institution
Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Work, Excel, Outlook)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Problem solving/conflict resolution and negotiation skills

Preferences:
Previous sales or customer service experience
Some exposure to warehouse/distribution/manufacturing/agriculture/construction
Quick learner with desire to succeed and progress in a fast-paced environment
