Job Description

Teva Pharmaceuticals is looking to fill a Drug Product Development and Operations intern role in Elizabeth, NJ. For this role, Teva Pharmaceuticals is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student with a background in pharmaceutical sciences/chemical engineering or biomedical engineering or biotechnology, or related field.

The Operational Excellence Intern will support the OpEx department activities including data collection and analysis, prioritizing projects and creating the implementation plans.

They will assist in documentation of processes, participate with team activities and meetings, and communicate findings.  It is expected that the OPEX Intern will learn the key aspects and methodologies of the Teva Production System and other process improvement techniques needed to understand and assist in driving to achieve a step change in the performance of the site in terms of quality, service and cost competitiveness while engaging and empowering the site employees. This position will interact with employees at every level of the plant and will be part of the Local OPEX community.


Location:  Elizabeth, NJ
Length: 12 Weeks. June 1st August 28th

Job Responsibilities:
 Collecting and analyzing data to identify opportunities to reduce and eliminate waste
 Aiding in the facilitation of 5S and visual management activities both on the manufacturing floor and in transactional departments, such as Engineering, Quality, HR, IT, Finance and EHS.
 Participating in process improvement activities in both manufacturing and transactional departments including standard work, process mapping, value stream mapping, poke yoke, problem solving, SMED, etc
 Drive teams to deliver cost reduction projects, using Kaizen, project management and problem solving approach.
 Assist in sustaining recently improved processes


 Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree (preferably technical, pharmaceutical, chemical, Industrial engineer)
 Excellent knowledge in MS Office.


Preferred Qualifications:

 Lean or Six Sigma background.
