Job Description

Teva is searching for a Microbiologist II to join our team in Irvine, CA!


The Microbiologist II performs all Microbiological tests and develops methods. You will train and review the work of less senior level Microbiologists / Technicians.


You will:

  • Perform Microbiological testing on Raw Material, Finished Products and Stability samples including:  Sterility Testing, Bacterial Endotoxin testing, Particulate Matter testing, Bioburden test, Antibiotic assays, Microbial Limits test.
  • Develop and Validate new test methods - perform Bacteriostasis and Fungistasis test, Inhibition and Enhancement test, Preservative Effectiveness test, Container Closure Integrity test and Bacterial Retention tests. Compile method validation reports.
  • Support validation functions. Perform enumeration of Biological Indicators. Maintain user logs and BI history data.
  • Maintain environmental isolates and identify environmental isolates. Perform evaluation of thermal resistance of spore formers.
  • Perform recertification of clean rooms and plant systems.
  • Schedule/coordinate /perform assigned projects compiles test data, write summary and final reports.
  • Train less senior level Microbiologists / Technicians.
  • Follow Teva Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Bachelors of Science degree, preferably with a Microbiology focus required. MS in Microbiology or related sciences preferred.
  • 4 years relevant experience in a Microbiology laboratory required. 5 years preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a Pharmaceutical/Aseptic filling environment required.
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, GLP, FDA guidelines, USP and EP and other applicable industry regulatory requirements required.
  • Thorough understanding of all areas of microbiological testing in a pharmaceutical microbiology Lab required.
  • Computer proficiency with comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office products, Learning Management Systems (LMS), ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and manufacturing/quality systems such as LIMS, TrackWise preferred.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMs) preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively and collaborate with co-workers, management and other internal stakeholders.
  • Self-directed with ability to plan, organize and prioritize work. Capable of scheduling, planning and working independently. 
  • Detail oriented with ability to identify errors and/or inconsistencies while performing tasks.
