  • Overview

    Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Traffic Manager is directly responsible for overseeing and executing the creation of all daily program logs for Tribune Media’s KFSM/KXNW station based in Fayetteville, AR. Playing an integral role in the success of the sales department, this position works closely with all stakeholders in sales and leaders in engineering/master control, finance, news and creative services/promotion departments.

    Responsibilities

    • Leading and executing a well produced, on time, and error free log for all channels at the station. This includes inventory management, ensuring material attached, promotion filled, and log to master control within established deadlines.
    • Positively managing and leading the traffic team at the station, consisting of 1 log editors and copy assistants.
    • Acting as the station’s traffic expert, maintaining a deep knowledge of all traffic tools including Wide Orbit.
    • Collaborating with key Department Heads in establishing and following traffic processes, procedures, best practices and station pences.
    • Accurately interpreting data and leading the traffic department in continuous improvement; positively influencing our revenue and “order-to-cash” flow.
    • Communicating daily with sales leads on inventory opportunities and pressures; providing current, direct, complete and actionable information.
    • Proactively working logs - recognizing and notifying station of contract entry errors, working exceptions, effectively utilizing swing breaks to maximize revenue, front loading when appropriate.
    • With tent pole events or large revenue events, working with the sales manager on spot placement.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the FCC requirements as they pertain to EAS, E/I programming, and political spots. This includes working with Creative Services/Promotion to make sure the appropriate graphics are logged when E/I programming is moved, and that political spots are viewed by the designated sales personnel for compliance.
    • Communicating with our corporate programming team when long-term format changes are needed.
    • Taking calls after regular business hours from the station when questions regarding logs arise.

     

    Qualifications

    • Traffic department experience in media is mandatory. Knowledge of Wide Orbit traffic software a plus.
    • College degree or equivalent work experience, customer service experience a plus.
    • High level of accuracy; ability to compare and verify information.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Able to work under time constraints and manage deadlines productively.
    • Take initiative and make decisions without daily guidance.
    • Effectively communicate with others; present ideas, facts and technical information clearly.
