Position Description:

Position Purpose

The Manager Off-Shelf Merchandising (OSM) Visual will be responsible for the design and implementation of MAP, promotional and event customer experiences inside The Home Depot stores. The Manager is responsible for supporting and providing thought leadership in a visual merchandising capacity for their assigned merchandising departments. They will act as the liaison between merchandising and our agency partners in order to execute merchandising strategies and create a best-in-class customer experience.

This role is also responsible for balancing art and science. This means data analytics, customer insights, and analysis of the market landscape need to be taken into account when developing the in-store merchandising experiences.

Cross-functional partnership is an absolute requirement for success in this role. Key partners include Merchandising, Marketing, Off-Shelf Merchandising Team (OSM), Merchandising Execution Team (MET) and outside agencies.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

  • 30% Alignment and Communication – Partnering with key stakeholders, obtaining necessary information to create visuals. Clearly communicating business strategy to agency partners. Presenting creative concepts cross-functionally and to senior leadership, ensuring a consistent message for the customer across all channels. Providing regular status updates to key partners.
  • 20% Design Activities – End to end, requirement and data gathering, creative concepting, prototyping, proofing, ensuring correct execution, developing contingency plans and measuring overall effectiveness.
  • 20% Project Management – Ensuring all steps in the process are being followed and all timelines are met in order for visual elements to be accurate and on-time to stores.
  • 15% Innovation – Using customer insights to drive innovation and evolve visual elements, messaging, creative and placement throughout the store. Testing to inform future decisions and maintain a repository of test results. Constantly look for areas of improvement to simplify associate execution and reduce issue rates YoY.
  • 10% Budget Tracking – Setting cost expectations with cross-functional partners, collecting reimbursements, reviewing estimates against forecast and rate card and providing up-to-date and accurate tracking to leadership.
  • 5% Reporting – Providing weekly status updates to leadership, including visual summaries for each business area. 

    Nature and Scope:

    This position reports to the Senior Manager Off-Shelf Merchandising (OSM) Visual. This role does not have direct reports, but requires project management leadership skills.

    Environmental Job Requirements: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
