Position Description:
The Manager of Digital Channels – Portals & Subsites will assist the Director of Digital Channels & Communications Technology with ensuring content management standards, improving information architecture, optimizing search, administering systems and reporting on user interactions within various associate and customer-facing sites, including the Company intranet, online newsletters and our corporate site. The Manager of Digital Channels – Portals & Subsites collaborates with business partners and IT to deliver tailored content experiences that meet the needs of our 400K associates while ensuring site consistency and a robust user experience. The incumbent will also be responsible for leading the charge in continuous site improvements, keeping pace with industry standards, reviewing reporting to ensure content usage and assisting with issue resolution to drive business improvement.

25% Write and edit corporate press releases, media kit materials, issue briefs, and other communications materials
Develop key messaging for various corporate initiatives
Research and develop unique content to support corporate PR and social media efforts
25% Conduct proactive media outreach and strategic story development
Respond to various local and industry trade media inquires
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key field contacts or key executive contacts
25% Assist with requests from outside organizations for occasional speaking appearances by functional leaders and award entries
Assist in coordinating local and national media opportunities with stores, certain functions or functional field leadership
25% Occasionally, respond to inquiries regarding customer service issues Research the public impact of various proactive and reactive media initiatives Monitor results and develop reporting for key functional stakeholders

Position reports to Director Corporate Communications
No Direct Reports


Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Additional Environmental Job Requirements:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in a related field
Proven leadership experience, leading a team of 4 or more
Proven experience leading enterprise-level technology projects
Experience with intranets and web design strongly preferred
Experience with SharePoint or similar content management platforms preferred
Experience in Google Analytics or Omniture preferred
Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Active and engaged participant in local and industry trade media relations
Ability to develop unique, strategic PR and social media plans
Savvy and knowledgeable of social media trends and innovations. Depth of knowledge with social media, viral and online word-of-mouth best practices
Solid understanding of PR and social media metrics
Ability to build close relationships with the press to improve effectiveness of pitching activities
