Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager, Corporate Communications will be responsible for managing editorial content and strategically driving corporate messages for multiple business units to reach targeted internal and external audiences. Responsible for partnering with leaders, Corporate Communications peers and other stakeholders to develop and implement communications strategy and messaging, including planning and driving vehicles, creative content and campaigns. 

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 60% Manage internal and external communications content program for specific functional areas, which may include, but not limited to: CEO communications; internal corporate communications; HR communications; Employee Branding communications; Merchandising communications; Home Services Communications; project management of translations. 
  • 10% Develop sustained metrics to assess ongoing effectiveness of vehicles 
  • 10% Evaluate and assess existing communication vehicles at corporate; identify and explore new and state of the art methods to determine most effective and efficient methods to deliver and reinforce strategic messages at all levels of the Company. 
  • 10% Work with the Associate Communications peers and other cross-functional partners to determine editorial calendar by audience, date and media, as well as to determine the appropriate communication vehicles 
  • 10% Drive corporate messaging to targeted internal audiences through appropriate vehicles
NATURE AND SCOPE
  • Typically reports to Sr. Manager, Corporate Communications 
  • Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 7 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Journalism, PR, Communications or English is preferred. 
  • Track record of driving the communication process from concept to delivery 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Extensive experience writing and editing corporate communications, marketing materials and/or public relations collateral 
  • Has demonstrated the ability to advise leadership on communications strategy
  • Broad experience in working independently and/or leading teams to complete large-scale communications projects and initiatives
  • Familiarity with AP style and Chicago Manual style of knowledge of communication strategy and planning 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
