Job Summary

The Lewis Honors College at the University of Kentucky is currently seeking a Lecturer for a nine-month appointment, non-tenure track position. This position will be responsible for teaching six courses per academic year (typically three per semester) of Honors-level courses at the undergraduate level. Usually, one course (two sections per semester) will be the Foundations Seminar, HON 101, and one course per semester will be an Honors course in the Lecturer’s discipline.

HON 101 Knowledge and Society is a 3 credit, foundational Honors. Knowledge and Society takes a vested interest in helping students develop an appreciation for the pursuit of truth and knowledge. By exploring the links between subjective and social phenomena, students will gain a clearer understanding of the way inquiry and curiosity are implicated in our familial, cultural, historical, and political worlds. This course aims to foster an environment where students are equipped with the tools to confidently discern the assumptions, premises, and expectations of variant claims to knowledge and truth. Knowledge and Society is an invitation extended to students to (re)imagine their identity as agents in an interconnected and ever-expanding global context.

The Lecturer position may include responsibilities for special programs on an as needed basis. Typically, the distribution of effort will be 75% teaching, 18% service to the college, 5% research/scholarship, and 2% professional development.

Applications must include a cover letter as well as a curriculum vitae. Please also include the names and contact information for at least three references when prompted in the application. This information may be used to solicit reference letters from your references within the employment system.

Questions should be addressed to the Associate Dean of the Lewis Honors College, Czarena Crofcheck, Crofcheck@uky.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
