Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE

The Infrastructure, Delivery and Support (ID&S) Technical Project Manager is a highly technical position combining project management capabilities with a working understanding of building construction principles, low voltage wiring, and technology infrastructure & devices. This TPM role is part of the ID&S Site Delivery Team that manages the implementation of all technology for new sites and remodels within our supply chain, retail, and corporate areas. Sites vary in size, complexity, and work effort. The team is currently managing ~ 50 projects annually with a 20% increase expected in 2021-2022. Each new project supports the revenue growth of the business.

The successful candidate requires experience deploying technology in a construction environment, working understanding of building construction principles, low voltage wiring, and technology infrastructure & devices. Ability to read construction drawings, as well as a general understanding of the supply chain, managing budgets of $1.5MM+.

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible for delivering the IT infrastructure required to support a new site implementation or remodel/expansion. The TPM manages the IT component implementation from site design to delivery, leveraging a wide array of technical, project management and interpersonal skills. The TPM guides multiple vendors and Home Depot associates in working through the installation, testing and turnup of Information Technology components and applications.  This position is fast paced, and the successful candidate will be presented with multiple types of construction builds and opportunities. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3-5 years technical Project Management experience, preferably Infrastructure (construction principles, low voltage wiring, technology infrastructure & devices)
  • Intermediate and above skill with MS Excel, SharePoint/Teams, MS Project is required.  Smartsheet experience is a plus.
  • Critical Thinker. Outstanding communication skills.
  • Experience managing medium to large technical projects
  • Up to 25% TravelMAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
    70% - Delivery & Execution:
    • Executes project scoping and manages scope for low to medium complexity projects
    • Creates, monitors, tracks, and adjusts project plans based on critical milestones
    • Conducts budget planning and manages budget
    • Conducts cost benefit analysis and justification process
    • Develops and communicates status updates highlighting any potential issues, including schedule, resource, cost, and risks
    • Documents and applies lessons learned to subsequent projects and regularly contributes suggestions for improvement
    • Understands organizational goals to apply to project work
    • Forecasts timelines, budget needs, and resource needs with accuracy
    • Completes toll gate artifacts (Charter, Business Acceptance Document, etc.)20% - Monitoring:
      • Identifies, defines, and makes recommendations to mitigate risks
      • Manages projects in adherence with The Home Depot's compliance regulations
      • Works with project teams and 3rd party vendors to ensure critical dependencies remain unthreatened
      • Captures and drives issues to resolution10% - Administration & Operations:
        • Updates The Home Depot systems on a standard cadence (e.g. financials)
        • Creates, documents, and posts project artifacts to centralized repositories
        • Manages the purchase order and invoicing process with 3rd party vendors
        • Facilitates the onboarding and ramp up of new project team membersNATURE AND SCOPE
          Typically reports to the Technology Coordination Manager or Sr. Manager.

          ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
          Environment:
          Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

          Travel:
          Typically requires overnight travel up to 25% of the time.
