Description:

As LogMeIn continues to grow and expand our burgeoning product universe, our need for a holistic view of Engineering across our entire portfolio has never been more important. LogMeIn seeks a Global Head of Engineering to lead a 1000+ engineering organization and build a robust and universal approach to SaaS product development, data, metrics, best practices, governance, oversight, and process improvement. They will also define operational excellence and the overall engineering direction for LogMeIn. This leader will also be instrumental in helping catalyze the transformation of the engineering organization into a growth mindset oriented, customer obsessed and agile culture.

Responsible for product engineering across the entire product portfolio, the Global Head of Engineering will work closely with engineering leaders across the business to ensure a culture that inspires high performance, accountability, customer obsession, and speed. They will balance the need for innovation with the development requirements and process for building amazing products and features. Setting, clarifying, and defining overarching design, analysis, and a testing schema will be paramount as will working closely with other members of the executive leadership team and stakeholder partners to set clear expectations and achieve organizational and company goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a high functioning engineering organization that delivers high quality products in a timeframe that aligns with company goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and promote engineering best practices across teams and locations while ensuring that the correct process is in place and followed.
  • Drive predictable engineering operation with objecting improvement in efficiency/time of shipping releases, quality metrics, and defect rates.
  • Ensure excellence in development by fostering an environment of fearless engagement emphasizing a balance between speed and quality.
  • Set clear expectations and vision for the global engineering organization setting and tracking goals and by soliciting, synthesizing, and delivering feedback to team members and the executive leadership team.
  • Establish key metrics for measuring team and individual productivity, and compare LogMeIn's efficacy against industry standards, identify specific team challenges, and prioritize improvements within the first 90 days.
  • Drive accountability with clear goals and objectives and evaluate, evolve, and scale the team practices within the first 6 months.
  • Be the technical thought leader and effectively convey technical strategy to individuals as high as the executive leadership team.
  • Participate in the strategy used to recruit high performing engineers and partner closely with HR on strategies to retain them.
  • Partner with the Product Management organization to ensure objectives align and the engineering team can effectively deliver.
  • Cross functionally collaborate to drive strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10+ years previous engineering leadership experience leading global teams; at least 3 of which should be as an SVP or role of equivalent competency in a large SaaS, cloud, or technology services company managing teams across multiple international time zones
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar strongly preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with very strong decision making and communication skills with a passion for organizational design and efficiency and building great cultures.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong bias for action, and excellentproblem-solvingskills across multidisciplinary skill sets.
  • Demonstrable experience selecting, managing, developing and motivating technically diverse teams.
  • An excellent communicator (verbal and written) internally and externally.
  • A visionary leader who can adapt and drive innovation and performance.
  • Collaborative leader with experience in both large and small companies; must combine the entrepreneurial focus with the ability to navigate and move/adapt quickly.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Capable of analyzing, interpreting, drawing conclusions and implementing solutions on a variety of complex issues.
  • Experience building and running teams as big as 500+ or larger with a consistent track record of promoting and developing team members.
  • Deep knowledge of a variety of different technical stacks and a strong knowledge of networking technologies, systems architecture, programming, and design/implementation of multi-tenant SaaS products.
  • Past experience building key metrics for measuring team and individual productivity and compare LogMeIn's efficacy to industry standards.
  • Strong ability to convey ideas convincingly and to influence without authority, particularly around communicating critical technical challenges to non-technical business members to ensure alignment.
  • Passionate about evangelizing LogMeIn's product suites with external partners and potential candidates, hosting meet-ups, speaking at conferences, and writing technical papers/blogs.
