Job Summary

The Department of Arts Administration is searching for enthusiastic and passionate students in the BA in Arts Administration program to serve as representatives that educate and excite people about the field of Arts Administration. Arts Administration Advocates will spend time writing letters, making visits, and taking meetings with a variety of different audiences (e.g. potential students, high school teachers, college students, parents, etc.) to help further the understanding of the field of arts administration and what arts administrators do. The Arts Administration Advocates will work directly with the Administrative Coordinator to execute letter campaigns, events, visits, and other tasks as assigned. They will be integral in furthering the reach of the Department of Arts Administration at the University of Kentucky in the Lexington community and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Main Areas of Responsibility include the following: Recruitment: Communicate with admitted students via email, mail, phone, and/or text; Compile mail information packages to send to local schools; Visit local and regional schools and arts organizations to talk about arts administration; Assist with Online Open Houses; Serve as student representative at recruitment events; Conduct arts administration recruitment visits including serving as a host to potential students and their families; Compile database information. Marketing and Communications: Write thank you letters to donors and alumni; Contribute to departmental social media campaigns and newsletters through the creation of content. Events: Support with K-Week events for incoming freshman; Assist in coordination, set-up, operation, and tear down of the Arts Internship Fair; Attend departmental events as greeter and representative of department.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Ability to use software programs such as the Google suite, a positive attitude that can work with a team, strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to travel to local Lexington schools and organizations.
