POSITION PURPOSE

The position is a financial analyst role in the Inventory Accounting Forensics Team.  This is a small team that conducts detailed financial analyses of store and DC inventory data to uncover and resolve issues that cause shrink or swell for skus in Home Depot stores’ physical inventory process.  The team primarily uses a lot of Excel and Access, and most of the data resides on an old legacy mainframe.  The team is quickly moving towards pulling data via SQL using Google Big Query.  The team analyzes large volumes of data looking for causes of shrink/swell.  The work requires a detailed understanding on how Home Depot’s retail business works, and the team interacts with many other business and IT groups to conduct research.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Performs transactional and financial research and analyzes internal and external issues related to inventory shrink or swell, including book inventory, sales, receipts, markdowns, and shrink reserves.
• Compiles or prepares reports/presentations of developed data.
• Interacts with various internal and external organizations to determine impacts to store inventory results
• Supports Home Depot Inventory Research team with detailed analyses for escalated issues
• Partners with Financial Systems IT and Finance Integration to identify, document, resolve, and test system changes that impact store inventory results.
• Gathers and correlates basic information using established and defined financial proceduresNATURE AND SCOPE
