Job Description

Position Summary /Objective: Under administrative direction, oversees and directs the financial reporting, planning, and analyses for the Company's manufacturing sites. Directs department management and staff through the planning and coordinating of activities to meet business goals and objectives.

Essential Duties / Functions

Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.

Designs, establishes and maintains the Company's cost accounting infrastructure and establishes corporate standards for plant financial reporting.

Directs the accounting activities and financial consolidation of the Company's manufacturing sites including monitoring the month-end closing process for all plant locations.

Provides corporate oversight in the area of internal reporting, budgeting, forecasting, standard costing, cost improvement, capital expenditures, and make/buy justifications.

Participates in the development of corporate policies and procedures and internal control reviews relating to plant operations.

Directs the implementation of the Company's plant cost accounting systems.

Establishes financial metrics for plant operations and develops new methods to measure performance.

Drives cost improvement by assuring the plants maximize the utilization of existing systems, and leads the migration to a new enterprise wide ERP system.

Analyzes and reports operational results for corporate management to use in performance review and decision making.

Provides financial analytical support for capital expenditure requests and approvals.

Supports corporate materials management and corporate development in the negotiation of supply agreements.

Performs due diligence reviews in connection with possible plant acquisitions.

Provides financial support and analysis for strategic business decisions, product-line recommendations, licensing agreements, project feasibility, and cost savings initiatives.

Assists in the integration and consolidation of financial data required by merger and acquisition activity. Monitors, directs, coordinates and prioritizes the activities of subordinate managers and assigned staff. Manages and approves the interviewing, hiring, and training of departmental employees; provides support, direction and coaching to subordinate employees in the areas of hiring, training, disciplinary action, problem resolution, planning, and work assignment delegation.

Performs related duties as assigned.


Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from an accredited college or university. Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification strongly preferred

Experience Required: Eight + years of financial management experience.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications required:

Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting methods.

Performance measurement, benchmarking, ERP systems, process design and implementation practices and procedures.

Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.

Recruiting, interviewing and selecting applicants in accordance with established employment practices and methods.

Principles and practices of mathematical and statistical computations, technical and scientific writing, and budget administration and financial reporting.

Business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Business and personal computer hardware and software applications; MS Office/Access and Hyperion Pillar preferred.

Current Company policies and procedures including safety rules and regulations.

Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, and implementing recommendations for resolution.

Planning, developing and implementing goals, objectives and practices for effective, efficient and cost effective management of allocated resources.

Interpreting and applying federal, state and local policies, procedures and regulations.

Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Researching, analyzing and evaluating new accounting and internal control methods and procedures.

Directing, supervising, coordinating and delegating assignments and review of the work of assigned department personnel. Administering personnel policies, practices and procedures.

Leadership, supervision, team building, and training practices and methods.

Managing and prioritizing multiple projects, duties and assignments.

Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with staff, management and senior executives.

Physical Demand: Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, vision to monitor, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and FAX machines regularly in the course of work. Work is performed in an office environment, and occasional business travel. Noise level in this environment is within normal ranges
