The College of Education invites applications for a lecturer, 10-month position in the Department of Secondary and Middle School Education (SMED) beginning August 2020.


Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in education or related field required. Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience in middle or secondary settings (grades 5-12). Knowledge of professional development school (PDS) programs.


Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in education or a related field. Previous university teaching experience is preferred. Five years of middle and/or high school teaching experience is preferred. Experience with teaching in an urban setting; working in professional development school (PDS) programs; and supervision of teacher candidates in the field.



Position will be assigned an instructional workload of four courses per semester. Teach undergraduate courses with the possibility of graduate courses in secondary and middle school education. Courses may include Principles of Secondary and/or Middle School Education, Ethics in Education, and others as needed. Work in an urban PDS setting to teach and supervise teacher candidates. Position is responsible for serving on college and department committees.
