Position Description:

Regional Investigators are responsible for the direction and support of theft and fraud investigations within a specified area of the company. The Regional Field Investigator will work with various business partners (IT, Internal Audit, RDO’s, Store Ops, MAPM’s and APS’) and leverage all available investigative tools to eliminate and reduce company exposure to associate theft. Key responsibilities include analyzing information, determination of exception data to drive investigation, communication and coordination of information to field teams and other partners and management of the investigative process. The Regional Field Investigator will collaborate with Analytical teams to develop new exception data, management of remote CCTV viewing to support investigative efforts, and case trend analysis to drive performance and to make recommendations to mitigate theft exposure. The Regional Field Investigator must be able to manage multiple tasks and to gain buy in and support of multiple partners to ensure a successful investigation process within their area of responsibility. The Regional Field Investigator must be effective at training and coaching, as they will support the field in understanding theft exposures within their area of responsibility. The Regional Field Investigator must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as they will make recommendations to business partners for the elimination of procedural/policy issues that increase theft exposure. The Regional Field Investigator will report directly to the Senior Manager of AP Investigations and will work remotely in their assigned geographical area.


  • Responsible for the identification of internal theft trends within their assigned area.
  • Develop partnerships with MAPM’s, and APS’ to drive theft and fraud elimination. 
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationship with HR, Store Leadership and RDOs to resolve associate issues relating to theft/fraud. 
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with AP teams, financial institutions, law enforcement and industry partners. 
  • Utilize information from system databases to identify and communicate criminal activity affecting company assets.
  • Analyze and review all POS and Non POS exception report data to identify potential internal theft/fraud issues within the assigned regions.
  • Provides weekly updates to manager/Business Partners within area of responsibility on caseload and case management efforts.
  • Develops Investigation plans, forecasts and package cases to provide field support 
  • Coordinates Documentation and Video
  • Update Case Management Platform
  • Utilizes multiple data sources to identify trends of fraudulent behavior
  • Utilizes E-Platforms and Social Media to help identify theft trends
  • Initiates quality case leads for investigation, providing actionable data and investigative support that will lead to successful case closures
  • Gathers Intelligence and collaborates with Law Enforcement on Serious Incidents (SIRs).

    Nature and Scope

    • Reports to Sr. Manager; Investigations
    • No direct responsibility for supervising others.


      • Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
      • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
