The Category Merchant (CM) is specifically responsible for executing master strategy and assortment of Commercial Software Licensing.



The Category Merchant is responsible for achieving the financial budget by developing and executing a customer-centric growth strategy. This strategy will be inspired by deep customer insight and will include assortment planning, merchandise and vendor selection, negotiation, financial planning, supply chain and inventory planning, pricing and promotions.

The successful candidate must be well versed in commercial software, software licensing, and cloud solutions that encompass the SMB, commercial, and enterprise customer segments.



**Major Duties & Responsibilities:**



+ Acquire a deep understanding of customer needs through research efforts, and field (i.e. sales force) feedback.

+ Develop a realistic and effective master strategy or business plan to achieve budgeted goals in sales and margin. Execute that plan to deliver results to the budgeted goals.

+ Develop, execute, and effectively communicate strategy to the highest levels of the company. Ensure plans align with company strategic objectives and goals.

+ Effectively partner to drive strategy, growth and solve everyday opportunities and challenges with field sales leaders and sales supporters such as customer service, bids teams, and product development office.

+ Choose assortment of capabilities and vendors, influence pricing, and create an appropriate customer experience.

+ Negotiate for lowest total delivered cost, volume incentives, rebates, advertising and other applicable allowances.

+ Effectively partner and influence other cross-functional partners, such as Sale Force, Pricing, Site Merchandising, Marketing, Portfolio, etc.

**Qualifications**

**Essential skills and experience:**



+ Minimum 6 years total experience in buying related functions (buying-selling, merchandising, planning, inventory management)

+ Proficiency in B2B Sales, Commercial & Enterprise IT Solutions, and best-practices to optimize customer conversion and ultimately sales & profit growth.

+ Expert industry-specific knowledge commercial software licensing trends, competition, products, customer behaviors, inventory management, logistics and marketing techniques.

+ Demonstrated in-depth knowledge & proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting and SKU-level assortment rationalization.

+ PC literate with the strong abilities with Excel.

+ Expert negotiating skills.



**Preferred skills and experience:**



+ Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
