Job Description

The Operational Excellence (OPEX) Leader for the site has significant impact on the success of the Business Unit.  This role will be the site leader/owner with respect to the OPEX process, development, training, projects/initiatives and implementation of Teva's global standards and best practices to improve the Business Units ability to meet customer expectations, improve quality, reduce cycle times, improve productivity, generate revenue and/or reduce cost. This position interacts with all levels of staff in the development and deployment of OPEX methodologies and processes.

Essential Duties / Functions

  1. OPEX System/Methodology and Project leadership includes
  • Identify opportunities for system and/or projects
    • Coordinate improvements with owners to accomplish goals
    • Define and financially justify projects
    • Launch project teams
    • Use good project management to manage team activities
    • Lead teams to execute projects with problem solving methodology
    • Track project status and results
    • Remove and elevate project barriers
  • Identify integration issues with other projects/processes
  1. Leads OPEX team using effective management practices in daily and strategic long term work in a lean, stable, profitable manner (thinks about cost, customer, flow)
  2. Sets and clarifies OPEX goals and objectives in the areas of quality and efficiency.
  3. Maintains resources within budgetary constraints.
  4. Maintains the direction and focus of OPEX in a positive manner.
  5. Establishes OPEX expense and budget for the fiscal year and monitors monthly.
  6. Builds and evaluates infrastructures and establishes action plans to implement appropriate tools and systems for continuous improvement (management control systems, 5S mechanisms, Kaizen, Visual Management, etc..)
  7. Lead, train and mentor all applicable staff and resources in the use of OPEX infrastructure and ensure continuing development of skills.  Includes delivery of OPEX awareness training events, such as Kaizen events, and presentations.
  8. Work with OPEX leads in SLC and OH in a supporting and coaching role.
  9. Communicates effectively on all levels and at all times.
  10. Follows Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned or required by business needs.
Qualifications

Education Required

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sciences or Business.

Experience Required

  • Required:  Minimal 10 years related experience in process or continuous improvement at a professional level (i.e. Engineering)and Management experience in OTC, Pharmaceutical or FDA-regulated manufacturing
  • Project Management knowledge including project team oversight, resource identification, budgets, scheduling and planning. Demonstrates knowledge of the regulatory requirements, SOPs and cGMPs

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications required

  •     Highly desirable Black Belt certification or equivalent and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
