Job Summary

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with doctoral preparation in Sport Leadership (Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent), effective August 16, 2020. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The flagship university of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the University of Kentucky is home to more than 30,000 students and nearly 3,000 faculty members. Located in Lexington, the Horse Capital of the World, UK is a major employer in the small city of approximately 315,000.

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion (KHP), housed in the College of Education, is comprised of 25 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs in the academic areas of exercise science, physical education, health promotion, and sport leadership. KHP serves as the academic focus for more than 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students who are seeking degree programs in the department. One of the primary areas of focus at the masters level is Sport Leadership. We anticipate the addition of an undergraduate degree program in Sport Management in the near future.

This position requires the faculty member to teach 21 credits per year in Sport Leadership and other areas of need based on expertise. The Assistant Professor will have the opportunity to serve on graduate student thesis committees.

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent) in Sport Leadership/Management/Administration or a very closely related field. The search committee will only review applicants who have completed their doctoral studies upon submission of their materials. Applicants who have demonstrated successful teaching experience at the university graduate level will be more highly ranked than those without such experience.

Preferred (but not required) Qualifications: The successful candidate will submit evidence documenting development of undergraduate and graduate programs and have experience and training with designing online programs.
