Job Summary

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, with a focus in Sport and Exercise Psychology (SEP). The appointment will be a nine-month appointment and effective August 16, 2020.

Candidates for this position should demonstrate the ability to maintain a focused and productive research agenda, with potential for funding support. The faculty member will also be responsible for teaching 12 credits per academic year, with a primary focus in the area of sport and exercise psychology, group dynamics in sport, research methods, and sport leadership. In addition to providing service to the department, college, and profession, this faculty member will be an active participant in the SEP graduate program and its implementation, evaluation, and promotion (e.g., advising graduate students, supervising internships, and serving on exam and thesis committees).

The following qualifications must be met by time of appointment:
An earned doctoral degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology or a closely related area (i.e., Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Exercise Science)
Demonstrated ability in publishing and presenting high quality research
Demonstrated ability to teach college-aged populations
Demonstrated commitment to the field of Sport and Exercise Psychology (e.g., engagement in AASP, APA, and other organizations/conferences)
Hold Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) designation at time of appointment or by the end of the first semester
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Previous success (or potential) for securing funds for research and/or program development grants.

The cover letter should address the specific quantitative and/or qualitative areas the candidate is qualified to teach, including (but not limited to) courses in sport/performance psychology, exercise psychology, group dynamics, research methods, and sport leadership.
