Job Summary | The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The position is with the University of Kentucky’s mechanical engineering program at the extended campus in Paducah, KY. The College of Engineering administers ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree programs in mechanical engineering and chemical engineering at Paducah, with a total of nine full-time faculty. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and the motivation to sustain a program of independent research and scholarship through innovative educational activities, laboratory development, the direction of undergraduate and graduate research, and other independent and collaborative research endeavors. Research collaborations with local industry and faculty on the Lexington campus are encouraged. The anticipated start date is August 2021. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field). Candidates with specialties in all areas of Mechanical Engineering will be considered. Candidates with backgrounds in Dynamics and Vibration, Machine Design, Solid Mechanics, and/or Control Theory are especially encouraged to apply. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled, but the priority deadline for acceptance of applications is February 1, 2021.
